MATH stainless steel taps: how to choose basin, bath and shower mixers

MATH is Alice Ceramica's range of taps and showers in solid stainless steel: slim cylindrical bodies, a minimal lever and a choice of brushed steel or matt PVD in gold, rose gold or black. It is designed to sit next to Alice ceramic basins, bidets and baths. This guide explains which MATH mixer suits which basin, how to build a complete shower and what to add so nothing is missing on installation day.

The short answer

• Countertop basin: a deck-mounted mixer in the right height (Regular, Medium or Tall), plus a waste and siphon.
• Clear countertop or wall-hung basin: the wall-mounted mixer, with a 195 mm or 259 mm spout.
• Freestanding basin or bath: the floor-standing mixers, which rise from the floor.
• Shower: built-in mixer + diverter, a shower head on an arm or ceiling tube, and a hand shower kit.

Deck-mounted basin mixers: which height?

All three are single-lever mixers in AISI 316L stainless steel, supplied without waste.

• MATH Regular (MATH100): regular height, for countertop basins.
• MATH Medium (MATH113): taller, for vessel basins that sit higher on the counter.
• MATH Tall (MATH133): the tallest, for tall vessel basins.

The spout should clear the rim of the basin comfortably: the taller the basin, the taller the mixer. Our countertop basin guide explains how to check heights before you order.

Wall-mounted basin mixer

The MATH wall-mounted mixer (MATH220) keeps the countertop completely clear. It comes with the spout and the recessed part, in two spout lengths: 195 mm or 259 mm. Choose the length so that the water falls in the centre of the bowl. The recessed part goes into the wall before tiling, so decide early. A replacement spout is available in both lengths.

Freestanding basins and baths

• The MATH freestanding basin mixer rises from the floor to the basin, in two heights: 1000 mm (MATH100FS) or 1150 mm (MATH100FS-L). It suits freestanding washbasins in the middle of the room. See our freestanding washbasin guide.
• The MATH freestanding bath mixer (MATH102FS) comes with a hand shower on a 150 cm black long-life hose.

Both include the built-in floor part, which must be positioned before the floor is finished.

The bidet mixer

The MATH bidet mixer (MATH101) has the same slim body and lever as the basin mixers, so basin and bidet match. It is supplied without waste.

Building a MATH shower

The MATH shower is modular: choose each part, all with G 1/2 connections.

• Control: the built-in shower mixer (MATH104, two outlets) and the built-in diverter (MATHDE104) to switch between overhead and hand shower.
• Overhead shower: the ultra-slim round shower head (4 mm thick, ø 20, 25 or 30 cm, brushed steel) or the PVD shower head (11 mm, ø 25 or 30 cm, matt gold, rose gold or black), on a wall arm (35 or 40 cm) or a ceiling tube (25 or 30 cm).
• Hand shower: a water outlet (with front support, 90° support or plain), the 150 cm hose and either the ø70 hand shower (add the silicone nozzle insert) or the minimalist hand shower.

Waste and siphon

MATH basin and bidet mixers are supplied without waste. To keep the same finish under the basin, add the MATH Up & Down waste (click-clack, 1 1/4") and the MATH stainless steel siphon (1 1/4"). If you prefer the drain cap in the colour of your ceramic basin, choose a ceramic Free Flow or Up&Down drain. Not sure which? Read which waste to choose.

Finishes

• Brushed steel: satin brushed stainless steel.
• Matt PVD in gold, rose gold or black: a hard, scratch-resistant PVD (physical vapour deposition) coating with a soft matt look.

Mixers, spouts and the main shower parts come in all four finishes; the ultra-slim shower head is brushed steel only and the PVD shower head is PVD only. Choose one finish for the whole room, including waste, siphon and shower parts.

Spare parts

• Cartridges: ø25 (MACR25NKJ) for deck-mounted basin and bidet mixers, ø35 (MACR035SD) for built-in basin and shower mixers, MACR25OPS for the freestanding bath mixer.
• Aerators: 16x1 (MAAE161IJ) for basin and bidet, 22x1 (MAAE221IJ) for the freestanding bath mixer.
