Technical and community sanitaryware: accessible, children's, public and laundry bathrooms

Not every bathroom is a private one. Schools, nurseries, care homes, hospitals, gyms, hotels and utility rooms need sanitaryware that copes with heavy use, fits the people using it and is easy to keep clean. Alice Ceramica makes five technical ranges for these spaces: CONFORT for accessible bathrooms, SLEEPY for children, COMMUNITY for public and collective spaces, SHORT for compact and contract bathrooms, and LAUNDRY for utility rooms, plus a group of technical washbasins for vanity tops. This guide explains which range fits which project, with the measurements from our product specifications.

The short answer

• Care homes, hospitals and accessible WCs: CONFORT – raised WCs and WC-bidets, open-front versions and an ergonomic basin for wheelchair users.
• Nurseries and primary schools: SLEEPY – child-sized WCs and basins.
• Schools, sports centres and workplaces: COMMUNITY – trough basins, urinals, Turkish WCs, slop sinks and foot basins.
• Small bathrooms, rentals and contract jobs: SHORT – a compact WC, bidet and basin set.
• Utility rooms and laundries: LAUNDRY – deep ceramic sinks and wash tubs, many with a built-in washboard.

CONFORT: accessible bathrooms

CONFORT pieces are raised for easier transfer from a wheelchair and come in closed or open-front versions. The front opening leaves room for intimate hygiene and for a carer to assist. Sizes below are depth × width × height.

• Floor-standing: WC and WC-bidet (52 × 37.5 × 49 cm), open-front WC and open-front WC-bidet (50 × 38 × 49 cm), all with floor (S) or wall (P) outlet, plus the matching bidet (51 × 37.5 × 49 cm). Fix them with the FIX05F floor kit.
• Close-coupled: CONFORT-ECO WC and WC-bidet (75.5 × 38 × 50 cm), with the ceramic CONFORT-ECO cistern.
• CONFORT 40 WC-bidet with built-in water dispenser: 52 × 36.5 × 40 cm.
• Wall-hung: WC, open-front WC, WC-bidet and open-front WC-bidet (55.5 × 38 × 50 cm), and the bidet (56 × 38 × 50 cm). They need an in-wall frame and the FIX04 brackets.

Every CONFORT WC takes the CONFORT seat: pick the closed or open-front variant, for floor-standing or wall-hung bowls. The ergonomic washbasin (56.5 × 66 × 26 cm) has a concave front and elbow rests; mount it on fixed, manually tilting or pneumatic supports.

SLEEPY: nurseries and schools

SLEEPY is scaled for young children, so they can use the bathroom on their own.

• Floor-standing WC: 41 × 30 × 30.5 cm, floor or wall outlet.
• Wall-hung WC: 45.5 × 30 × 29 cm.
• Both take the children's seat.
• Basins: the SLEEPY washbasin in 41, 45, 50 or 58 cm, the corner basin (33 × 46.5 cm) and the drinking-fountain basin (41 × 33 cm).

COMMUNITY: public and collective spaces

• Trough washbasin (90 or 120 × 45 cm) for several users at once, wall-hung with the MSTAF4 kit or on a countertop.
• Wall-hung urinal: 31 × 34 × 45 cm.
• Compact WC (45 × 35.5 × 38 cm) with the ceramic high-level cistern.
• Turkish WCs: the rimless model with built-in siphon (50 × 69 cm) and the floor-level model (50.5 × 60 cm).
• For hospitals and care facilities, the slop sink with its grating; for pools and gyms, the foot basin.

SHORT: compact and contract bathrooms

SHORT is a simple, soft-edged set in classic white for small bathrooms, rentals and contract projects.

• Back-to-wall WC and bidet: 48 × 37 cm, fixed with the FIX05 screws.
• Wall-hung WC and bidet: 50 × 37 cm, with the FIX04 brackets.
• SHORT seat: standard or soft-close.
• Washbasin 55 × 45 or 65 × 45 cm, wall-hung or on its pedestal.

LAUNDRY: utility rooms

LAUNDRY sinks are deep and sturdy, for hand-washing, soaking and cleaning jobs.

• Wall-hung: the Pilozzo sink (45 × 36, 60 × 45 or 60 × 50 cm; the largest can stand on ceramic legs) and the sink with washboard (45 × 38 or 50 × 60 cm).
• Wash tubs: MISURINA (52 × 44 cm), GARDA (51 × 46 cm), ISEO (61 × 51 cm), BRACCIANO (60 × 50 cm) and BRAIES (60 × 60 cm), many with a built-in washboard.
• LUGANO (62 × 60 cm) can go on, into or under a worktop.
• Complete them with a matching cabinet and a wooden board.

Technical washbasins for vanity tops

For hotels, offices and contract jobs, these plain white basins go into a worktop: the undermount CUBIC (54 × 41 or 85 × 46 cm), TIPO (57 × 43 cm) and FILO (70 × 38 or 93 × 38 cm) with the FIX02 kit; the inset DECOR in three sizes; and the TAGO double basin (141 × 46 cm). Finish and glaze

• All technical ranges come in glossy white (Bianco), the most practical choice for spaces that are cleaned often.
• Alice Ceramica uses an antibacterial glaze enriched with silver, titanium and zinc ions.
